What am I doing to lower my carbon footprint? ...

I've been interested in environmental issues for as long as I can remember. I have a BSc honours degree in Environmental Studies  (2:1) & an MSc in Rural Resource & Countryside Management (Merit).

I live and work in as ethically and environmentally-friendly a way as possible. For example, I am vegan, which is not only kinder for animals and has many health benefits, but this type of diet also has less impact on the environment than a meat and/or dairy based diet does.

Other ways in which I'm trying to lower my carbon footprint are:

I haven't flown for over 10 years, as I tend to go on holiday within the UK.

have a water meter installed at my business address, to encourage the careful use of water, and I use low-energy lightbulbs, when possible.

I have an allotment, where I grow organic fruit, herbs and vegetables, and make my own compost.

My office is within walking distance of my home, so that I can walk to work, when possible.

I reuse and/or recycle, whenever it is possible to do so; and I limit my use of plastic bags.

Whenever possible, I use local shops and businesses.

I use eco-friendly cleaning products.

I buy fair trade products, when possible.

I am continuously thinking of other ways in which I can lessen my impact on the environment.
